1960 Gibson ES 345 TDV

Here was have a fabulous ES 345 from Gibson golden 59/60 era.The pots currently out of the guitar date to the 36th week of 1959 and the serial number points to late 59 early 1960 so i would imagine this guitar was manufactured in 1959 and likely left the factory in early 1960. Its a pro owned session player’s guitar owned for over 40 years and like many pro owned guitars they are tweaked over the years to maintain the best results, hence why the pots have been removed as they were most likely scratchy and the varitone has been disconnected. I would imagine the pots would clean up and could be reinstated if the next owner desired. Also like many Gibson guitars of this era it has been fitted with gold Grover’s but the original “burst” Spec Klusons are in the case. The Bridge has also been changed to a 1960’s patent # as the original likely collapsed as they can do. The guitar has also been fitted with a Bigsby tail piece at some point in its life which was removed before the current owner obtained the guitar. The good news is both PAF pickups are still sealed with the neck pickup being a zebra reading 7.8K ohms and the bridge, a double black reading the same. Its a truly stunning sounding and playing instrument and easy to hear why these get dubbed “Burst Killers” It weighs just 8.5 lbs. Its still retains its original stereo output which can easily be converted to mono if desired either with a special lead or on the output socket. The guitar is in used condition as you would expect from a working guitar but there are no breaks or repairs other than the filled Bigsby holes. The strap pegs are for the locking type and there is a hole in the bottom bout next the Bigsby screw holes which was likely for an earth to the tail piece. The guitar has been used on many BBC sessions and on McFly recordings “Motion In The ocean” in 2007 and in 2008 “The Heart Never Lies”  It was also used on the popular “Mr Beans Holiday” As a session guitar it is set up perfectly and plays extremely well, a truly wonderful instrument. It comes in a 1990’s Gibson brown case.
