1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom White
This is the second factory white les Paul i have had in over the last 15 years, they don’t come up often and were special orders up until the 20th Century re issues in 1974 which this is clearly not. The last one i had also a 1973 went back to the USA. The pots date to 48th week of 1973 and the serial number which is difficult to read is 122689 which doesn’t help much as the number range simply lists it 70 -75. Gibson serial numbers from this period were all over the place. As you can see its un tampered with including the pickup cover seals and has the all important patent number T top pickups from the period. The neck reads 6.7k ohms and the bridge 7.1k ohms. It weighs a paltry 11 lbs 2oz typical of the period so only the hardest rockers need apply. There is something about a white Les Paul custom that defines an era in rock history that we all know. The neck is straight with good angle, low action, original frets and no grooving to the ebony board. The finish has aged beautifully to a white creamy colour and has what i would say the usual discolouration from strap burn and also slight rubber hook or stand burn to the headstock and the usual patina from light use over the years. The pictures tell the story. The often replaced original waffle back tuners work well and hold tune with the G tuner being slightly bent that effects nothing to its operation. It comes in its original purple lined case with “Les Paul” painted to the lid
