1964 Fender Stratocaster Fiesta Red
If you are looking for a 100% fantastic pre CBS custom colour investment grade Fender Stratocaster you have just found it! It weighs in at just 7 lbs 4 oz and whilst it does show a degree of play wear most of it is confined to the back and bottom edge. This is fiesta red over a white undercoat and of course the yellow aniline stain. The colour just pops right out you a tad less pink than the desert sand undercoat guitars but with its own level of beauty that just can not be recreated. Modern paint formulas just cannot recreate the level of depth and hue of colour, it just screams 1960’s and the transition from black and white to glorious technicolor! The guitar is completely original throughout and has 3 grey bottom pickups that give a resistance of Neck : 5.8 k ohms Middle: 6.1 k ohms Bridge: 5.31 k ohms. You can get a mix of black and grey bobbin pickups from this period, i have to say i’m a fan of the grey bottoms through to 1966 as they have one foot in the earlier 1960’s “Hank” tone and one in the hotter more aggressive “Hendrix” tone of the mid to late 60’s, the best of both worlds. Pots date to the 26th week of 1964 and the neck to November 64. There is no funny business or disturbed solder under the guard, the paint is thin and the often found over painted id masking tape is present in the neck pickup rout. The neck sports its original frets and nut and are in good condition. The board has no wear worth mentioning. The transitional logo is perfect with just some wear to the “contour body” decal. All the plastics are in good condition and the guitar features an un cracked green guard with minimal distortion. The tremolo back plate is present. The neck profile is slightly slimmer than the earlier 64 we have in at present but it fills the hand nicely and is very comfortable. The guitar comes with its original tremolo arm, bridge cover, all 5 springs, strap and its original correct for 1964 black Fender no logo tolex case.
