1958 Fender Stratocaster in date only as it shares all the specifications and features we associate with the 1957 production year, and crucially the famous V neck profile sought after by players and collectors alike. As you can see this is no case queen, but a guitar thats been cherished and gig time served. Like all working instruments its had a few running repairs over the years but nothing drastic that should cloud the focus on this mojo dripping guitar. Both the volume pot and one of the tone pots have been changed in 1975 by their dates, the remaining center pot with its original chicklet capacitor is dated 23rd week of 1957. The original 3 way switch is present. The body is dated January 1958 and has something written in the neck pickup cavity which is undecipherable. It also is signed “Gloria” on a piece of masking tape in the control cavity which was more common to find in the early 1950’s. I can see that the guitar has had another guard on it at some point as there are extra screw holes left behind under the guard. The same goes for the tremolo cover, all hidden under the plate.  When the guitar came in the bridge pickup was open circuit, so a trip to sick bay over at Monty’s guitars resolved that, plus we addressed a not so good previous rewind to the middle pickup. The results are seamless to both the eye and ear. There have been at least 2 sets of non standard tuning pegs on the guitar that thankfully have left no redundant visible screw holes, however the peg holes have been enlarged and subsequently fitted with oversized ferrules. The present Kluson single line pegs are re issues. There was a second string tree which we have removed. The guitar weighs in at 7 lbs 8 oz. and of course sounds incredible, if your after a 1950’s Stratocaster this one is hard to beat. Comes with its original tweed “Koylon” case.
