1963 Fender Precision Bass

Fabulous January 1963 pre CBS Fender Precision bass with just its body finish removed and coated in clear. Obviously done a long time ago and with a green nitrate guitar left Fender as custom colour instrument. You can see white in the neck pocket and control cavity so maybe, either way i would love to see this in an aged Olympic White restoration, it would look so cool against the green guard. The neck finish is original with a nice worn in feel and the logo is original. It weighs in at just 8 lbs 4 oz or 3.8 kg with the covers on. Everything electronically and hardware wise is original and its plays really well up and down the neck on what look to be its original frets. The headstock strap button has been relocated to the heel of the body and the original nut has 3 extra slots cut into it for some unknown reason. The pickup reads 11.5 k ohms which gives the fat punchy tone that these are famous for and the nitrate guard is crack free. To top it all off the guitar comes in its original Fender brown tolex case. All in all a very nice instrument from Fender’s golden period
