Just in is this fabulous 1956 Strat with what looks to be an early attempt at relic. Its been with its current owner since the early 2000’s so what ever was done to it was before that. Its a tough one as the guitar is completely original, i can’t find a single replacement screw on the guitar. The pickups are on their original winds and measure, neck: 5.9 k ohms middle 5.8 k ohms and bridge 6.1 k ohms. Everything is present surgical rubbers and untouched masking tape etc. The pots are dated 33rd week of 1955. The guitar weighs 7 lbs 7 oz. The guitar has been re fretted (original frets in the case) with slightly larger wire and plays superbly as a result. Things get a bit funky when we look at the finish, i’m not sure if this is an early refinish and relic attempt or someone has aged an original finish guitar and over shot it with clear. The finish is very thin and all the cavities present as we would expect. The colour is off either by over enthusiastic polishing on a wheel which has removed a great deal of the black/brown round the edges allowing the yellow stain to show through giving it’s colour, or its just a refinish with a relic job. Either way its priced accordingly and represents a substantial down tick on an original finish 56. It comes with its original frets and extra tremolo spring, along with the original output jack that became troublesome in recent years all housed in its tweed Koylon case that has had two extra catches fitted.
