Circa 1930 Gibson L-0 Acoustic Guitar

Built during Americas deepest Great Depression years is this charming Gibson L 0, i can’t find any factory markings or FON number to identify the exact year but from its specification as a 12 fret to the body it must have been built between 1930 and 1932 after which it changed to a 14 fret body join. It has a 24 3/4″ scale length with a 44mm nut width making it perfect for finger style. The neck profile is surprisingly modern feeling being a full C shape. It always surprises me how bright and zingy these all mahogany guitars can be which must be in part due to the maple bridge plate and X bracing. Its an incredibly well sorted guitar with an action of 2.5mm bass and 1.5mm treble at the 12th and if it has had a neck reset in the past i can see no evidence of it under black light. Amazingly its crack free too and the original finish is in good shape with just some normal player finger wear spots below the sound hole. Usefully it has what looks to be a KK pickup installed with its output through the end pin. It has never been drilled for a forward strap button either which is nice. The white silkscreen “The Gibson” logo is bright and complete and the original tuners work well and hold tune and the truss rod turns in both directions. Like all quality vintage acoustics its very lightly built and weighs just over 3 lbs. This model eventually turned into the more common Gibson L-00 making this model a rare find considering its 2 year production run and condition. Comes in a 1960’s hard shell case
