2011 Martin & Co J40

Martin are not really known for Jumbo type guitars leaving that to Gibson but this J40 has recently come in and is a huge surprise in the tone department. Whilst still having that light balanced string tone that Martin are famous for, the deeper 4 5/8 ” body at its deepest really ads to the depth of the bottom end and really throws the sound out in a way i’m not accustomed to with Martin guitars, i like it! Scale length is 25 1/2 inches on an ebony fingerboard with colourful  pearl inlays. The nut width is a roomy 1 3/4″ perfect for the finger style enthusiasts and the bridge is also ebony. The frets look to be un marked. The back and sides are Indian rosewood whilst the top is tight grained sitka spruce. The guitar is set perfectly with room in the saddle to adjust if necessary with an action of 3.5mm bass and 2.5mm treble at the 12th. There is an active pickup in the guitar with a volume wheel in the sound hole and a strap pin added at the heel. The guitar is in good all round condition for its years but does show signs of normal wear from use. The guitar has just been cleaned, fingerboard oiled and strung with Martin bronze strings ready for its next owner
