1969 Gibson Byrdland

Here we have a fabulous example of Gibson built for Billy Byrd & Hank Garland thinline archtop. Essentially a slimed down top of the range L5 with a short scale 23 1/2″ neck. Along with the L5 it shares all the high end appointments and materials such as solid carved spruce top, maple back and sides with a smooth ebony fingerboard with pearl block markers. This one from 1969 features the return to the original venetian cutaway design from the sharp 1961 -1968 florentine design and has 2 Patent sticker T top humbucking pickups. As you can see the condition is exemplary with no cracks to the spruce top or repairs. The guitar plays extremely well with a low action and is fast and easy to navigate just as it was designed to do. The sunburst finish is rich and unfaded with a hint of flame to the maple. All 6 Kluson sealfast tuners work as they should and top off the high end appointments along with the tasteful flaming torch headstock inlay reserved for the L5 and Byrdland.
