1966 Fender Telecaster
Its nice to have a rosewood board Telecaster with us again and as you probably know Sunburst equals a custom colour for the Telecaster and much less common as a result. Sunburst also equals an alder body so if you love the Telecaster but not a huge fan of the spikey sharp tone of its ash bodied maple board guitar in its standard format, then this guitar could be for you! It weighs in at 7 lbs 5 oz and the sunburst finish is still vibrant with some light age related edge wear. The neck feels more like a Stratocaster neck from the same period being a nice wide C profile than the thinner U shape found with a maple board guitar. The nitro finish has aged nicely giving that worn in feel we all love. The wiring has been updated to post 67 spec and the tone capacitor has been changed, i can’t make out any pot codes, the bridge pickup measures a wopping 10.3k ohms and the neck 6.3k ohms making for a strong sounding guitar. The bridge has had is sides reduced in height to enable better pick access in that area, a common mod back in the day. The pick guard is the original pearloid backed type with a small piece missing around one of the screw holes. The transitional logo is in good condition and the guitar is fitted with its original double line Kluson’s that work well and do the job. There is a music store decal on the reverse of the head stock likely from the original point of sale from Tower Music Leicester. It also comes in an earlier Selmer case which has likely accompanied the guitar from new.
