1964 Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass
Good clean early (9th week 1964) small panel Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass. Its in very nice clean condition and one of the best players we have had through the shop. It plays with a good low action with a lovely woody/upright bass tone that these are famous for. There is some nice book matched maple flame to the back and the overall finish is very good. I see no sign of a previous neck set but there is the obligatory heel repair that many of these suffer from. Its a clean tidy repair that’s solid and presents no issue. The original “cats ears” tuners work well and hold tune. The guitar has not seen strap buttons and comes with a cool soft period Selmer type soft tie on strap. It weighs just 2.1kg or 4.1 lbs and is strung with flats ready for action! Comes with its original Selmer case
