1964 Gretsch Tennessean

Here we have a great example of the much misunderstood Gretsch Tennessean one of my favourites from the Gretsch vintage lineup. I think the problem is rooted with the Hi Lo Tron pickups which for many are considered under powered, however with low power comes tone and with a boost in amp volume and maybe add compression you have one of the most recognisable guitar tones out there, perfect for country rock. The single cut shape with a body depth of just 2 ” makes for a comfortable ride and the thinest of all the Gretsch hollow bodies. This one has been recently re fretted and plays exceptionally well as a result. The guitar is in overall good condition with just a couple of areas of plastic decomposition mainly to the heel cap and the neck joint up stand. The binding thankfully is rot free throughout. There is the usual crack through the pick guard bracket screw hole and the bridge pickup surround has a crack through a screw hole. The pictures tell the story so if you are looking for one of these you will struggle to find a nicer one.

Comes in its silver mid 1960’s Gretsch case
