1961 Fender Stratocaster Ex Peter Thorp (Roulettes)

1961 Fender Stratocaster Ex Peter Thorp (Roulettes)

SOLD

We are pleased to present this awesome 1961 slab board pre CBS Fender Stratocaster that belonged to Peter Thorp of the Roulettes and used extensively with the band and through the early 1960’s backing Adam Faith. It features on many of the hit recordings during 1963 to 1965. It was first purchased in October 1962 from Jennings as a 2 tone Sunburst strat but by August 1963 it had been resprayed black and thats how it can be seen in various google images documenting the band from that period. After the band split in 1967 the guitar was retired and later refinished back to the sunburst it wears today. Aside from its heritage it is an excellent guitar weighing in at 7 lbs 5 oz  or 3.4 kg and is all original with the exception of the body finish and tremolo arm. The neck pickup reads 5.4 k ohms middle, 5.5 k and the bridge 6.02 k with the original 3 way switch easily accessing the in between settings. The neck has been re fretted and has that broken in feel only a vintage guitar can give, and it plays extremely well up and down the neck. We have scans of the original hand written provenance that comes with the guitar.

Comes in a Selmer croc case.
