1962 Fender Stratocaster Fiesta Red

The best sounding guitars are the ones that get played and this original finish Fiesta Red over Desert Sand 1962 Fender Strat is no exception. Easily the coolest and best sounding pre CBS Strat we have had through the shop. It weighs in at 3.6kg or 7 lbs 9 oz with an October 62 neck date and the pots dating to the 16th week of 1962. Crucially there is no broken solder with its factory 3 way switch in place. The guitar has the thicker veneer rosewood board which is in good condition and still full depth having escaped being planed or reshaped. The guitar however has been pro re fretted and pleked with what looks to be the original nut in place and as a result plays flawlessly. The truss rod nut is damage free and not over wound in either direction resulting in a straight neck with the slightest relief. The neck has the full C neck carve with a perfect worn in feel to the hand. The neck pickup reads 6.1k middle 6.2 and the bridge 5.8 k ohms. There has been other tuners on the guitar and some point, but the originals are back on with un filled screw holes showing just below the tuner casing. The post holes have not been enlarged. All the hardware and plastic is original to the guitar with the exception of the tremolo arm which is a replacement. The green nitrate guard so far has resisted cracking at the neck pickup adjustment screw hole which is always good to see. The pictures tell the story and we will have a video up shortly. Pre CBS custom colour Strats are reaching skywards with clean examples easily achieving £50k and beyond but i doubt they sound or play as good as this one. Comes with its original brown tolex case with its strap and lead with changed plugs.
