1947 Gibson L5

Lovely example of a post war Gibson L5 this one has seen some action over the years but unbelievably there are no cracks to carved solid spruce top which this model is susceptible to. The maple rims and back survive too. Infact i see no breaks or repairs through the guitar except for some minor cracks in the binding north of the 12th fret which is perfectly normal for a guitar this age. The guitar has been sympathetically  re fretted in the past and the 3 piece neck with ebony board along with MOP block inlays is in fine shape. There is a little bit of out gassing from the original celluloid guard where it joins the neck which will need attention at some point in the future in the form of a replacement. The guitar is fitted with a fairly recent tunomatic style bridge with a external removable KK arch top pickup which works well. The guitar has had a strap pin fitted to the heel of the neck and there is a patch of wear adjacent to it that must have been caused by a strap which has eaten through the finish to about the size of a 10p piece. The Kluson seal fast tuners work well and hold tune, the shaft of the D peg is slightly bent. The pictures tell the story of this lovely top of the line Gibson L5 which has a responsive lively loud acoustic tone and an unmistakable warm smooth L5 plugged in tone.

Comes with fitted 1970’s Gibson case
