1987 Gibson ES 347

Nice example of the relatively rare Gibson ES 347. Made in low numbers from 1978 through to 1993 as a replacement to the exiting ES 345. The guitar is basically an amalgamation of features from the ES line and features the classic ES set up of mahogany neck with a maple body complete with center block but is fitted with the higher end ebony fret board with MOP block inlays and multiple bound crown headstock with gold Grover tuning pegs. The guitar is mono but has a second toggle switch for a coil tap function for both humbucking pickups which is a welcome tone addition. All the hardware is gold and the guitar is factory fitted with the fine tuning TP-6 tailpiece but there is a regular gold tail piece in the case should you prefer. This guitar being from later in the run does not feature the brass nut found on earlier examples. Condition wise the guitar fairs well with just 2 dinks near the output socket worth mentioning as seen in the pictures. The guitar features a particuraly attractive nitro sunburst finish. I would say the control knobs have been changed to gold from black and it looks like the guard is a replacement as there is a filled hole in the rim binding from an earlier footprint. From what i can see from other documented examples the coil split toggle switch is likely a replacement too. The guitar plays extremely well with a luxurious feel and sounds as you would expect. All in all a nice example of this hard to find guitar.
