1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

This 1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe started life as a Gold Top but as so many guitars had its gold finish removed and left natural revealing the 3 piece maple top. Its not unattractive as is and it has a very light coat of some kind of oil or lacquer protecting the top which would be easily removed leaving a blank canvas for any finish you might desire if required. I was tempted to do a sparkle job on it myself but just can’t bring myself to break the original solder to strip the guitar down. Interestingly this one still has “Sprague” capacitors that are usually gone by this time. it weighs 9 lbs 4 oz so average weight for the time and has the embossed “Gibson” mini humbuckers for 1972 . The pots date 42nd week of 1971. No goof rings to the pickups but it has one to the bottom strap pin which i rather like. The hardware and plastic is all original with the exception of the pick guard and bracket. The original tuners work ok but it does have a replacement set of Kluson tuners in the case if the old ones give any instability. There is a hair line lacquer crack/mark running along one of the seams of the 3 piece neck, its hard to picture and represents a possible past knock that has shocked the joint, there is no movement and its rock solid. The guitar plays extremely well with a low action and delivers that 70’s grunt that we all love. Comes in a recent shaped case.
