1964 Gibson SG Special

Here we have a wonderful players grade 1964 Gibson SG Special from whats regarded as the best year of manufacture of all the Gibson golden era SGs. It has that wonderful full D shape neck carve that thickens out as you proceed along the necks length along with the roomy 43mm nut. The guitar has had neck trauma in its history giving it its players grade and although largely undetectable you will notice that the headstock Gibson logo is higher than its normal position and under black light you can see some repair work at the headstock, it looks like the neck has been reseated in its pocket along the way too. It also has the 2 cracks at the rear of the control cavity that these seem to get and i see no sign of any repair and non needed. The tuners have been replaced with a modern set of Gibson Deluxe which suit the guitar and work well, the truss rod cover has been replaced along with the pocker chip, all else looks to be correct. The good news is it weighs in at just 6 lbs 3 oz plays like a dream and sounds killer with its original P90 pickups giving a resistance reading 7.7k at the bridge and 8.4k ohms at the neck. As you can see the electronics have been completely undisturbed with virgin solder joints although i can’t make out there date codes on the back of the pots. Its worth noting that this guitar has never had a vibrola installed which is not easy to find. The fingerboard and frets are in excellent condition and like i mentioned before the guitar plays faultlessly and would definitely be Santana approved! It come in a cool period correct Australian Gibson case all for less than the price of a modern R9
