1962 Fender Stratocaster
Here we have a players grade 1962 slab board Stratocaster, it has an old attractive naturally aged sunburst refinish and the neck has some thin clear overspray with a good raised reproduction logo. As you can see some switches have been added and removed with the holes plugged in the original nitrate guard. The main control cavity has been slightly widened as have the pickup cavities. 2 pots are from the 80s whilst one is from 2nd week of 1962 and the neck is pencil dated February 62. It still has its original 3 way switch and pickups which read, Neck: 5.8 k ohms Middle: 5.9k ohms and Bridge 6.2k ohms and the guitar weighs 7 lbs 5 oz. It looks like it’s had another bridge on the guitar at some point in its life as again the tremolo cavity has been slightly enlarged. The tremolo block and saddles are original with a replacement arm, it also has its original single line Kluson pegs and no others have been on the guitar, all the plastic Knobs etc is also original. Its been re fretted with slightly larger wire and the nut is a replacement. The slab board is in good condition and has not been planed although there are some minor chips round the frets from a sloppy re fret in the past. It comes in what looks to be its original Fender brown tolex case. All in all a great players grade strat that i’m sure is worth substantially more in parts representing superb value and a great opportunity to get into a pre CBS slab board Stratocaster.
