1961 Fender Stratocaster Olympic White

The second of our recently acquired refinished pre CBS Stratocaster’s is this awesome 1961 example again proving that guitars like this are still among the best buys on the vintage market. This is an old refinish and could easily be mistaken for an original Fender finish. It has aged naturally and therefore the crazing in the clear coat has cracked laterally along the length of the guitar as it should. Couple this with natural wear and tint to the clear coat it looks simply amazing, add in the snottiest green nitrate guard we have seen in a long while and you get perfection that only a custom shop can dream about. It weighs in at 7 lbs 5 oz, the neck displays some screw holes to the headstock above the nut which can only be from some tremolo locking devise, yep we can’t undo the 80’s, but at least the body has not been routed for the often installed accompanying tremolo. The original logo is present along with the single line Kluson tuners with no others ever being present. Most of the finish has been worn from the back of the neck with whats left black lighting perfectly. There is no excessive wear to the slab finger board or frets and the guitar plays well along the neck which is dated in pencil to 11/1960. The original nitrate guard has the usual neck pickup screw hole crack with the aluminium shield  present under. All 3 pots are original with the volume pot reading 45th week of 61, and the tones 37th and 52nd week of 1961 respectively. All hardware on the guitar is original including the tremolo assembly and arm, the plastics are also all original. The all important pickups are original and still with their 3 way switch and it sounds exactly like an early 1960’s slab board Strat should with plenty of depth and chiming bell tone. The guitar comes in it’s original blue lined Selmer case.
