1960 Hofner 182 E2 bass Ex Ian Bairnson

Here we have a cool Hofner Bass owned by the founding member of the 1970’s group “Pilot” and subsequently The Alan parsons project before becoming the 1980’s first call studio session guitarist with numerous highlights including Kate Bush’s “wuthering heights” solo. Ian had experimentally removed the frets above the 12th so he could play fretless, these have no been replaced returning the guitar to stock. The 2 diamond Hofner pickups are on their original winds and have strong output and like all Hofner Bass’s the sound is huge coupled with agile playability making them a firm favourite without breaking the bank. The overall condition is good for its 64 years with some age related cracks to the plastics and 4 screw holes to the top for some unknown reason. Ian used to stop by our shop and demo guitars for us, his ability was jaw dropping and we always looked forward to his visits.
