What a spectacular guitar this is from Gibson’s golden year of manufacture. and the last year for this model before the ES 330 is introduced in 1959. As you can see its in fine original condition and sports the often mis understood Les Paul tail piece which he designed to give added sustain, which it certainly does, and unlike the tailpiece for the 52 Gold Top the strings go over the bar not under allowing palm muting. Its fully adjustable for height and intonation. Just like the incoming 330 the guitar is a thinline model fully hollow with 2 P90 pickups. Bound fingerboard chunky 59 neck profile which joins the body at the 14th. The amber switch tip survives as do the 4 bonnet knobs along with the pots, bumble bees and loom. The only changes from factory i can see is the strap pin in the heel of the neck and a re fret in larger wire which really helps playability. The original nut has been raised to accommodate the larger wire. A nice crisp guitar which comes in the desirable thinline brown case which would fit your 1950’s ES 335 nicely.
