1955 Gibson Southern Jumbo SJ-N Natural

Probably one of the last Southern Jumbos ordered in natural finish before the model was replaced with the “Country Western” which came standard in natural to satisfy the increasing demand. Same guitar, different label. This one has had its bridge changed in the past which looks to be shaved down to accommodate a lower playing action, although the guitar plays well in the cowboy positions its probably looking at a neck reset in the not too distant future. The tuning pegs although correct are mid 1960’s versions probably replaced due to crumbling buttons. The guitar has a fantastic wide grained Sitka? Top, tear drop pick guard, spruce top and mahogany back and sides, its in very good shape for its years but does carry a few scars. This model is always an attractive desirable model on account of the split parallelogram inlays and bound neck. This would have been a special ordered guitar which was only available from 1954 through to the introduction of the CW in late 1955, therefor quite a hard and rare guitar to find

Comes in a modern hard shell fitted case
