1961 Fender Stratocaster

We have had a good run on pre CBS Strats recently so its pleasing that as one sells another seems to arrive! This one has been refinished in a 2 tone 1950’s sunburst finish and the pencil date of 7/61 can still be seen in the tremolo cavity. It’s an excellent job done some 20 years ago and has excellent checking that is not forced so looks extremely accurate. The neck dated 7-61 looks like it was painted red at some point in its 65 year life which has been removed revealing the original finish. Its been re fretted and they are un marked on the slab board fingerboard which is also in excellent shape. The guitar weighs 7 lbs 5oz and there are no extra routs under the guard.It’s also worth mentioning the guard is un cracked which is not seen often. The electronics are all original including the pickups which are on their original winds and the pots date to 21st week of 1961. The original 3 way switch is present and the only thing i can see thats not 1961 under the guard is a small extension to the earth side of the pickups to volume pot to get a firmer earthing spot. The pickups give a resistance reading of Neck: 5.9 K ohms Middle: 6.0 k ohms Bridge 6.4 K ohms making for a strong sounding well balanced guitar. The guitar retains all of its original plastic including the tremolo back plate and its single line Kluson tuners are present with no others having been fitted. The guitar comes in a 1960’s Guild blue lined case that has lost its tolex and looks to have been painted white to resemble a 1960’s Fender case perhaps. It fits the guitar well and does the job. The guitar also comes with its original tremolo arm and bridge cover.
