1966 Fender Stratocaster
I think these early Fender CBS large headstock Stratocasters are among the best sounding ever produced and this one is no exception. It has a trio of grey bottom pickups dated November 1965 and the pots are dated 10th week of 1966 and whilst the guitar has been refinished everything else looks factory with the exception of the shield plate. The sunburst re finish is attractive and looks to be based on an early 1960s colour burst. The neck has the lightest of clear nitro overspray but the headstock face and logo are factory albeit for a filled second string tree hole. The guitar looks to re fretted with sympathetic wire and our in excellent condition making for a superb playing experience. The dark rosewood board is also in great shape and the double line Kluson tuners work well with no others being previously fitted. It weighs just a hair over 8 lbs and the pickups give a resistance reading of Neck 5.6k Middle 5.7k and bridge 6k ohms. All the plastic is original along with the tremolo arm and back plate and it comes in what must be its original case. With the prices of custom shop and master built guitars creeping ever skywards this must make for the best value guitar out there, its the real deal after all!
