1961 Fender Stratocaster Daphne Blue

Nice to have a players grade pre CBS Stratocaster with us again. This one has been re finished in Daphne Blue with a light relic job. Its just been re fretted and set up and as such plays remarkably well. The neck you may have noticed is slightly later and is a veneer board 62. Its a sympathetic fret job with original spec wire and board looks to have been thoroughly cleaned leaving the clay dots whiter than i’m used to seeing, it has a new bone nut. The logo has been replaced but it looks like what little of the neck finish remains is probably original, it certainly has the played lived in feel that we all love. The original guard has 2 filled screw holes adjacent to the neck pickup adjusting screw in a past attempt to keep the shrinking nitrate from arching up which is now reasonably flat. The guard also shows some colour variation which is caused by wear from a player that rested his fingers on the guard  and played finger style. The rest of the hard wear looks to be correct other than the top E tuner which is a solid shaft double line replacement, 70’s 5 way switch, tremolo arm and the volume pot has been replaced. The other 2 pots date to the 34th week of 1961. I also notice that the cloth wire to the output socket and earth claw looks recent. The good news is of course it sounds killer and i still believe a refinished pre CBS Stratocaster to be one of the best buys on the vintage market. The guitar weighs 7 lbs 6 oz and comes in a re issue brown tolex Fender case.
