A first year guitar and first time guitar for us and having always liked the look of these we are not disappointed. This is a hollow bodied guitar with a spruce top so its incredibly light and comes with 2 of the acclaimed Franz P90 Pickups with gold pole pieces which sound strong, sharp and bright. The guitar is all original other than the wiring loom has been changed as the rubber insulation breaks down and causes shorts in the wiring. However its fully reversible and  the original loom is in the case if you feel brave. In my experience early Gretsch guitars that have had their looms change have a lot more clarity and some players swap them out as a matter of course. There is some pick wear to the top just ahead of the guitar and the guitar has a great vintage look and vibe to it. Comes with its original Guild Case.

Here’s how the 1954 Guild catalog described the M-75: “The use of an exclusively developed lighter semi-solid body construction gives the Guild Aristocrat a magnificence of tone never before achieved in a guitar this size.”

The characteristics of this 1954 Aristocrat are typical of others made that year. These consist of a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a 24 3/4″-scale, two-piece mahogany neck with maple center, rosewood fretboard with block inlays, “lip top” headstock (changed to “center raised” by 1962) with pearloid Guild logo and “Chesterfield” inlay. In keeping with its name, the Aristocrat sported gold hardware, including its Kluson tuners and harp tailpiece. While resembling Gibson P-90s, the single-coil pickups were made by a company called Franz, based in Astoria, New York.
