1929 National Style 1 Triplate Square Neck Resonator Guitar HOLD

Here we have a nicely preserved clean original with no dents and with the lightest of age related corrosion to the German silver nickel plate square neck National style 1. It has 19 frets with pearl dots on an ebonized fingerboard.

The triplate resonator was introduced in late 1926 early 1927 designed by John Dopyera in collaboration with George Beauchamp in a search for greater volume that would cut through an orchestra. The construction comprises of 3 internal resonator cones linked together by a cast aluminium T bar that incorporates the bridge and transmits the vibrations to the metal body and through the aluminium cones which act like loud speakers. The patent was filed in April 1927 and granted in June 1930. Ours is a “PAT PEND” example.
